We are going to start seeing a decline in Ants this time of year.  Even though that the days are still extremely high, the nights are starting to get cooler.  This is a sign to the ants that fall is fast approaching.  Within the next couple of months the ants will be gone until next spring.  Now is the time to be treating the exterior ants with a granular application and the indoor ants with gel baits.  The ants are needing protein to be able to survive the winter.  We have a granular bait that the ants will accept and take back to the nest to be eaten over the winter time and will decrease the ants seen next spring.

Although we have heard all the stories how soaking the ant mound or nest in gas and lighting it on fire kills all the ants, this is not true at all.  What this does is nothing more than killing some o the workers and move the rest of the nest to another area.  The reason for this is that ant colonies can actually be found more than 2 miles underground and that at the first sign of the colony being harmed, the colony will move to another area.  you can do this with out gas by just kicking the nest you can see.  Also gas is very dangerous to light as well as it may be unsafe for our drinking water aquifers.

The best solution to the killing the ants over the winter is to call a professional.  We are fully trained and have the experience behind us to reduce the ant populations next spring by using their habits over the winter to our advantage.
